President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has formally nominated former U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. The announcement was made during a dinner at the White House, where Netanyahu praised Trump’s efforts in promoting peace agreements in the Middle East.

Netanyahu highlighted Trump’s role in brokering normalization deals between Israel and several Arab countries, known as the Abraham Accords. These agreements, signed in 2020, included diplomatic ties between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco. According to Netanyahu, these actions contributed significantly to regional stability and cooperation.

The nomination process for the Nobel Peace Prize allows heads of state and certain officials to submit candidates for consideration. Netanyahu stated that Trump’s diplomatic initiatives made him a suitable candidate for the prestigious award.

The White House dinner was attended by senior officials and diplomats from both countries. Attendees discussed ongoing efforts to expand peace and security in the region. Netanyahu’s nomination of Trump was met with applause and expressions of support from some guests.

The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded annually by the Norwegian Nobel Committee to individuals or organizations that have made substantial contributions to peace. The committee does not comment publicly on nominations, and the full list of nominees is kept confidential for 50 years.
